Fine Motor
Fine Motor Skills involve the coordination of the small muscles of the hand and fingers in conjunction with the eyes. Some example are picking up cheerios, cutting on a line, tracing and holding a writing utensil.
Gross Motor
Gross motor skills use the large muscles of the body. Commonly used gross motor skills include actions such as: rolling, crawling, walking, jumping, riding a bike, and climbing stairs. Gross motor skills are essential to movement and participating in activities at school and at home.
ADL/ Self Care
Activities of Daily Living, or ADLs are the tasks that you do every day, such as get dressed, eat food, brush your hair, brush your teeth, clean your house, play with toys, go to work, go to school, etc.
Visual Motor
Visual motor control is the ability to coordinate visual information with motor output, and visual perception is the ability to recognize, recall, discriminate and make sense of what we see. Both are underlying components of catching a ball, forming letters properly between lines, reading and cutting on lines.
Visual Perceptual
Visual Perceptual skills involve the ability to interpret and organize information that is being seen and give it meaning.
Sensory Intergration
Most SI research and practice focuses on children who have a variety of developmental and learning difficulties, including autism and other developmental disabilities, developmental risk conditions, behavior and attention disorders, learning disabilities and developmental coordination disorder.
